The Process of working with M. Wackell Interior Renovations

  • Begins with a phone call.
  • Appointment is set. Appointments are made usually on a weekday during the evening hours. Weekend appointments are sometimes available as well.
  • The project is discussed. Budget restrictions. What the client wants to achieve. My designer will attend this meeting and come up with ideas, measure the job.
  • After the client agrees on a design, a second meeting is scheduled. If necessary, sub-contractors for plumbing and/or electrical will attend to meet client and to decide on course of action for plumbing, lighting, flooring, etc.
  • An estimate will be drawn up following the second meeting.
  • If the client accepts the estimate and design the estimate will go to the contract phase.
  • After the contract is agreed upon and signed. Long term items will be ordered. cabinets, doors, windows, tiles, etc.; an approximate start date will be set.
  • Proper permits will be drawn and put into place.
  • Start job:
    • Demolition of affected area usually takes one day.
    • Framing and design changes will be take place next.
    • Windows and/or doors will be installed.
    • Rough plumbing will be installed.
    • Rough electrical will be installed.
    • There may be some down-time when waiting on local inspections of the frame, plumbing, electrical, insulation/ventilation.
    • Once local inspections are done, walls and ceilings are closed with blue board/plaster.
    • Install hard wood flooring or tiles.
    • Install cabinets and molding.
    • Install counters and backsplashes.
    • Finish installing all millwork.
    • Install lighting, switches and any other remaining electrical.
    • Install sinks, dishwashers, garbage disposals and plumbing fixtures.
    • Final coat on hardwood flooring.Deliver appliances.
    • Final punch list is completed.
  • Call and wait for final round of local inspections of plumbing, electrical and finish work.
